Well, cuttlefish and octopi are clearly much more beautiful, but I will grant you that tigers are very aesthetically pleasing, even when they're just lying around (as they so often are).
That lion is sleeping so hard it almost looks hungover! And it looks oddly...cute. I didn't think a lion could be cute (it probably just reminds me of the look on Saffi's sleeping face when she's just exhauuuuuuuuuuuuuusted).
I wouldn't want to fall into their enclosure, no matter how cute they look. They appear formidable even in their "leisurely" state. Just check out the size of those paws.
Just to be clear: I don't work at the National Zoo--I just live near it. I'm originally from Detroit, most recently from Boston (where I got my Ph.D. in biology from Tufts University), and am now living in Washington, DC.
