One good shot: the gang

From my December visit to Pier 39 in San Francisco, where the sea lions were lolling about in vast numbers, "orr-orr-orr"-ing, fighting, swimming, and using one another as deck chairs.

{A note: I do write all text and take all pictures. Please do not reproduce either without my permission.}

They're so golden! I remember them as being very dark brown last time I was there, a million years ago. How evolution changes species:).

Well, there was a lot of variation in fur color--partly just normal variability and partly dependent on whether the sea lions were all wet or all dry or in-between. You may have just seen more water-logged sea lions when you were last there.

oh, man, SO FUZZY looking, wow. If I didn't know about their amazing teeth (someone I knew worked w/them & many other large spp. & said sea lion bites scar more than any other spp. he's been bitten by) etc., I'd wanna cuddle. Orr-orr-orr is EXACTLY what they say. Well done!
