I am, too, but I take inspiration from the active, liquid beauty of real slugs, whose strong, semi-translucent bodies glitter and shimmer as they leave a trail of light shining behind them.
Also, they can stretch each of their eyestalks independent of the other. How cool is that??

I'm glad to see the slug being given its due so beautifully. It's a creature that transforms leaf debris into "black gold," the compost that almost everyone clamors for these days, yet is hated by those who buy "perfect," hormonally pumped-up flowers at nurseries where pesticides are in use; then these unnatural flowers fall prey to slugs, and it's all-out war.
The emotionally expressive possibilities of those eyestalks boggle the mind. And passing silent, coded messages that way. hm... =)
