Haggis looks much the same. Do animals feel cooler with their bellies exposed? Adorable panda! Wish I could relax so completely.

Anca -- In answer to your question about whether animals feel cooler with their bellies exposed, the answer is yes. One of the quickest ways to cool a severely heat-stressed dog or other animal is to apply cold water, compresses or ice to their belly/groin area. This is something that can save a dog's life. Also, recently, I saw a squirrel spread-eagled, belly-pressed on a bit of shady concrete -- I'm sure it was cooling itself (that, or some unseen squirrel undercover detective was nearby).
