Only two days ago I alerted you all to a news story on an octogenarian attacked by a rabid beaver. Now there’s another story to add to the list:
Rabid beaver chases children in Springfield
My joke about zombified beavers is feeling a little less funny…
{A note: I do write all text and take all pictures. Please do not reproduce either without my permission.}

what is causing the high incidence of rabid animals in Fairfax County? Has the tea party been visiting and taking a bite of wildlife?
Which reminds me of the first rule of Zombieland:
Cardio.
If one is to follow the advice: "Wildlife experts said people should keep their distance from animals that are acting strangely,"
you gotta be able to run faster than the crazed, slobbering animal that is sprinting towards you.
Or, as they say, faster than whomever else you are with. =)
p.s. I practically swoon every time I see that ridiculous photograph that is your header. 100% nutsy STUNNING. arf.
@Anca: That's the scary part--there's just no knowing what's done it! Although I agree that proximity to the nation's capital may be a factor.
@biobabbler: Yes! Increase sprinting pace or stamina and/or hang out with slow people! And--thanks for the kind words about the header! It is one of my favorite flamingo photos ever...
