Seal You Later

How many seal puns can *you* come up with? (I've got a list.)

Coming soon: more on the zoo's new exhibit, the mystique of pinnipeds, and the dangers of wildlife.

{A note: I do write all text, take all pictures, and make all drawings. Please do not reproduce them without my permission.}

Seal puns, sounds like something GREAT to think about (distract) when cardio-ing this a.m. Seal was part of one of my MANY nicknames. I'd like to see someone literally seal the deal. I think I want to see these puns illustrated: signed, sealed, and delivered would be cute, too. Perchance you could write and illustrate a small book of animal puns? =)

Well, let's see...

There's "sealed with a kiss," if you have a photo or drawing of two seals nose to nose. ("Sealed with a kiss" is what happens when a seal kisses a guy and transforms him into a handsome seal.)

Then there's SuperPhoca--the Man of Seal.

And, of course, females of the Phoca vitulina persuasion can't get ahead in aquariums because they smash against the glass sealing.

By taking the seal-pun challenge, have I sealed my fate?

Are there many Calvinist seals, who consider themselves members of the Sealect?

If seals made a paste out of members of the Formicidae family in order to stick things together, would that be a sealant?

I just spent a 2,500 mile road trip with three other people during which we created cow puns the entire time. Some off the moo jokes were pretty bad.

I think I'll just keep my lips sealed.

@Biobabbler: sorry to inadvertently cause you panic, but thanks for being so concerned about the blog's future! And I like the idea of a book of animal puns...I see a potential collaboration, along with fame and fortune, on the horizon...

@Good Ol' Ant: This was the most satisfying series of groan-worthy pinniped puns (should they be pun-ipeds?) I've ever read. And with Latin names!

@Kallen: Thanks for getting the seal pun in after all. I'd love to hear the cow puns, too! Were they udderly horrible?

"pun-ipeds?" "udderly horrible." I just can't take it.

Oh, but you can leave comments in secret about it? Good thing I saw you writing it, or I'd be offended!

Wow, step back, 'cause Good Ol Ant is on it! Nice!
@Olivia, illustrated biology pun collaboration sounds like HEAVEN! =)
